I looked at all of the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment, and then he spoke softly. "I have done something," He replied. "I created you"
We at the SAWL have designed our committees to cover all fields of animal welfare. We want our Organization to be inviting to every one, because everyone who loves and cares about animals has something special to offer. Within these four committees we hope you find something that you would like to help with. We need you but most of all, the animals need you!
Southern Animal Welfare League Committees
Committee #1 -
Laws, Cruelty, Law Enforcement, & Animal Fighting
-Help develop and/or improve existing laws: chaining/shade, euthanasia (close down gas chambers) using ONLY lethal injection (which is much more humane).
-Follow news on cases of animal cruelty. Let the group know how we can help advocate for the animals.

Fundraising & Membership
-Brainstorm creative ideas for fund-raising. Should you decide on having a booth at a festival or you develop an interesting
fundraising idea, you can present it to the board and the group can
then work together to make it a success.

Newsletter & Web page
-Help develop new ideas for our web page.
-Develop an informative newsletter to be distributed
to the group.
Committee #4 -
Education, Shelters, Community Involvement & Puppy Mills
-Educating the public / school-aged children on proper treatment of animals.
-Visit the shelters / humane societies. Compile a list of those in surrounding areas and elicit help from the group/community based on their needs.
-Market our group, get our name out into your local areas in a postive manner to help promote animal welfare out in the community.
